Campervan Magnetic Blackout Window Covers
Posted by Kenji Kamimura on
We frequently get asked for advice on what size magnets would work best for magnetic blackout window covers used in campervans/caravans. This advice is based on feedback that we have received from past customers who have commented on how the given sizes worked well for their use. Hopefully the information is useful. If it is, it would be wonderful if you could reach out and give us the feedback - we are always looking to provide useful information! The basic idea is to sew some magnets into the material of the window cover so they can magnetically attach to the...
Suggestions for Mounting
Posted by Kenji Kamimura on
Because of their strength, neodymium magnets can be difficult to mount securely. The following offer some considerations to take note of when handling the magnets: When mounting magnets, be sure to get the polarity of the magnets correct so that they attract or pull as per your wishes. Magnets are secure if they are mounted behind a surface. However, even a small gap between the magnet and the object being pulled can reduce the pull strength a lot. Magnets are secure if you use a type with a countersunk hole, with a screw or bolt. However if you use say a spade-bit...
Wooden Knife Holder

The following is information pertinent to making a wooden magnetic knife holder for hanging knives vertically. 💡 I assume that the knives are suspended without actually sitting on anything, i.e. the magnet has to do the job of stopping the knives from sliding down. (Otherwise much weaker magnets could be used. For a cheaper, succinct option, but with magnets visible and flush on the surface, see * below.) You will need one magnet location per blade unless one of the following: You use a closely spaced row of magnets (all poles facing the same way). This becomes expensive. You have...
